Sony has announced that they will be able to finally meet demand for the PS3 in May thanks to an increase in production and upcoming shipment of 2 million PS3's to North America.
I didn't realize there was unmet demand.
And, apparently, I wasn't alone. Bill Harris of Dubious Quality spent the day combing the stats of online inventory database services and found that 84% of the 8,500 retailers listed nationwide had PS3's on the shelf available for purchase. He also discovered that over 80% of the 950 stores in 37 major metropolitan areas of the country had the 60GB version of the PS3 available as well.
