There's a lot being made in the sports media this week about Pittsbugh's decision to wear their "road whites" in Super Bowl XL, despite them being designated the home team (NFL tradition is for the home team to wear dark uniforms to look more intimidating). The vast majority of the sports writers and analysts are saying that it's a great move for the Steelers because they've won the past 4 games they've played in those uniforms. Okay, that's fine. But the one counterpoint that I've yet to hear mention on any of the major sports shows is that this then forces the Seahawks to wear their dark blue uniforms. The uniforms in which they are 10-0 in this season!
Also, in keeping with the significance of the uniforms, I read a interesting factoid this morning in the paper regarding the quarterback jersey numbers: Quarterbacks wearing the number 8 in the Super Bowl are undefeated with a record of 5-0. Quarterbacks wearing the number 7 are 3-7. The Seahawks' Matt Hasselbeck wears 8 and the Steelers' Ben Roethlisberger wears 7.

Well, you do live in Philly after all. And the Seahawks did spank them on MNF 41-0. Your corner of Pennsylvania knows the Seahawks aren't to be underestimated. It's that other, rustier, side of PA that doesn't know any better.
Oh yeah, I forgot Pittsburgh is in PA. (I tend to think Philly is PA since I never leave it.) You're right. Everyone here is routing for 'that other bird'.
